To be clear, this is a problem only with Dark Souls 3. Every other game I own that I have tried has no trouble at all. My rig: i5 7600k, GTX 1080, 16gb 3000mhz RAM. DS3 is currently installed on an SSD. What I've tried that I can remember: Running DS3 at "low" graphics settings and a low resolution (x720, x480 etc)
The main thing is lowering rendering resolution. First time I played through DS1, I did it in 360p. It was blurry as shit, but it ran well. Hello. So I have now spent about 2 hours watching videos, reading OBS help, getting updated version of OBS and still am having problems. The sound works, but I can only get a black screen. Before I updated, I could at least get a recording of everything EXCEPT the game itself, which would be a plain white screen. It seems my OBS is different than the videos. The video uploaders have different
